Review: Natural Selection by Elizabeth Sharp

“What do you do when you find out your family isn't your family, death is knocking at your door, and that guy you can't stop thinking about knows more about who you are than you do?
Amelia Hoffman was just a normal 15 year old until she found out the truth. Now ancient myths, supernatural beings, and murder have changed everything. Tests and school dances are no longer the biggest worry in her life-- she has to figure out how to save everyone she loves and accept the future in front of her before it’s too late.”
When I began reading Natural Selection, I wasn’t sure where I would stand. I was hesitant and honestly, a lot of it had to do with Amelia, or Lia’s, age. I wasn’t sure how much depth a 15 year old could have. But Elizabeth put any trepidation to rest very early as we have the opportunity watch this physically under developed girl become a beautiful woman. The beings are very different than the vampires and werewolves we’re used to, but even more intriguing as you’re introduced to witches, various demons, Gaia and many other creatures. While I found the beginning kind of slow, I couldn’t put the rest of the book down.
If you’re like me, you’ll be very fond of Lia’s relationship to her family, especially her brother and sister, Xander and Sariah. It’s the prime example of true siblings and family love. Elizabeth will have you laughing, crying and rejoicing as Amelia finds strength she never thought she was capable of having to save her loved ones from the misguided beliefs of the murderers.  If you’re looking for book with action, romance, surprise and supernatural wonder, this is the book for you.
My rating for this book:
About the Author:
Elizabeth Sharp learned to read at a very early age. It came as no surprise to her family that after she learned to write she began writing stories. A self-proclaimed techno geek, she lives in a quiet subdivision with her husband, 3 cats and too many electronics.

"What would you miss most if you were forced to go all organic?"

If I was forced to go all organic, I do believe I would miss the simple pleasure of ice cream on a bad day. Just that little bit of comfort after a rough day is sometimes really needed, and sometimes it's met for good time or just to make you happy while watching a movie at midnight or even better enjoying a good book :)

If I was forced to go organic I would miss most the guilty pleasures that I love such as chocolate (M&Ms and Snickers) and pretzel rods with yellow mustard. Whether I am feeling blue, enjoying reading a good book or just in the mood for my snacks, I think it would be really hard not to be able to have /enjoy them anymore. lol :p

Your review was awesome and I love your site!

I think if I had to go all organic I would miss going out to eat or having others cook a meal for me. It would make you feel pretty isolated not being able to go to eat at gatherings.

I couldn't imagine having to go organic. You all have excellent choices, but I myself would have to say sour cream and onion potato chips. :D

Thank you so much for reviewing for me, Jordan.

Fantastic book review! I loved reading this book! Lia is a fantastic heroin, despite her young age. Elizabeth Sharp is an excellent story teller and I can't wait to read her other works!

Great book review Jordan. I have Elizabeth's book on my TBR list (which is MASSIVE) but I think I need to move it to the top of the pile.

Kathleen Higgins-Anderson- Oh chocolate, and I'm a sucker for soft pretzels so I understand! I definitely think going organic would be really hard.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the review and like The Ink Puddle, a lot of time goes into it so it makes me day to hear those things.

Elizabeth Mayfield- Coke icies all the way! ;)

Sara R- Man, wouldn't that make for some awkward holiday gatherings with family?! Eek!

Elizabeth Sharp- Any time! We loved having you here with us this week!

M.D. Christie- I know! I cannot wait to see what Elizabeth Sharp writes next. Lia was an wonderful surprise heroin.

Wenona Hulsey- Oh you have got to move this towards the top of that pile. But I know how it goes, my pile keeps getting bigger and bigger! So many good books to read, so little time! :)

Thanks all of you for your participation. Please spread the word of the giveaway!
